Abstract

Indonesian motorists still rely on oil as their primary fuel source for their vehicles. To address this issue, innovation is needed in the development of alternative fuels, such as LPG. LPG can serve as a substitute to reduce dependence on oil, thereby increasing vehicle engine durability and providing a sufficient energy source to support people's transportation needs for a longer period. At this stage, information was gathered regarding internal combustion engines, motorcycle fuel injection systems, specifically fuel modifications, and the impact of fuel changes on engine performance and exhaust emissions.
Test results showed that the use of LPG fuel increased power by 20.49% at 9,780 rpm and torque by 22.17% at 3,800 rpm compared to Pertalite fuel, resulting in a power gain of 2.19 hp at 9,780 rpm and a torque gain of 4.05 Nm at 3,800 rpm. The use of LPG fuel also significantly impacts exhaust emissions. Where the CO content decreased by 195% and the CO2 content increased by 48.57%, however the HC content in the exhaust gas tended to worsen, namely increasing by 124%.
