Abstract

ABSTRACT
RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN KNOWLEDGE OF TB CONTACT GROUP AND MEDICATION COMPLIANCE in The Candirejo Public Health Center, Magetan

By : Arnelly Nindya Putri

Tuberculosis (TB) remains a public health problem in Indonesia. TB contacts are at high risk of Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection, requiring adherence to Tuberculosis Preventive Therapy (TPT) to prevent the infection from progressing to active TB disease. Good knowledge about TB is expected to improve medication adherence. This study aimed to determine the relationship between knowledge of TB contacts and medication adherence in the Candirejo Community Health Center (Puskesmas) in Magetan.
This study used a quantitative research design with a cross-sectional approach. The population was all TB contacts undergoing Tuberculosis Preventive Therapy (TPT) in the Candirejo Community Health Center (Puskesmas) in Magetan, totaling 53 respondents. Data were collected using a knowledge questionnaire and Form TBC.01P to measure medication adherence. Data were analyzed using a chi-square test.
The results showed that the majority of respondents (34 respondents (64.2%) had good knowledge, while the majority (39 respondents (73.6%) had good medication adherence. The Chi-Square analysis yielded a p-value of 0.001 (0.001 < 0.05), thus accepting H₁, indicating a relationship between knowledge of TB contact groups and medication adherence in the Candirejo Magetan Community Health Center work area.
It can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between knowledge of TB contact groups and medication adherence in the Candirejo Magetan Community Health Center work area. Therefore, healthcare workers are expected to continue improving education regarding TB and Tuberculosis Preventive Therapy (TPT) to improve knowledge of TB contact groups, thereby maintaining medication adherence and achieving TB prevention goals.
