Abstract
Indonesia has great potential in the agricultural sector and is known to be rich in various types of nutritious herbal plants, such as kitchen lemongrass or Cymbopogon Citratus, This plant belongs to the genus Cymbopogon which is popular as a source of distinctive aromatic essential oils. Its fragrance characteristics resemble strong lemons because it is dominated by citral content ranging from 65% to 85%, that's why this oil is often nicknamed lemongrass oil because it contains up to 70% water, fresh lemongrass becomes very easy to rot and mold. In maintaining the quality of vegetable materials, they must be dried immediately after harvesting. Lack of sunlight during the rainy season is often an obstacle, As a solution, the application of automatic dryer technology is needed to keep the drying process running. As a substitute for solar energy, this lemongrass dryer uses a Tubular Heating Element as its heat source whose temperature is automatically controlled using an Arduino Uno Microcontroller connected with a DHT22 temperature sensor and a Load Cell weight sensor. The test results showed that the load cell weight sensor produced an average error rate of 0.21% and an accuracy rate of 99.79%, the DHT22 temperature sensor produced an average error rate of 2.81% and an accuracy rate of 97.19%. Overall testing showed that lemongrass with an initial weight of 50 g took 3 hours and 44 minutes to produce a final weight of 17.3 g, a lemongrass with an initial weight of 100 g took 5 hours 47 minutes to produce a final weight of 33.6 g, and a lemongrass with an initial weight of 150 g took 8 hours and 29 minutes to produce a final weight of 50.5 g.
