Abstract

In the current era, the widespread use of social media provides many conveniences, particularly in communication and interaction. However, social media can also pose risks to children when not used wisely, one of which is grooming. Grooming refers to the process of gradually building trust by an offender with a victim prior to sexual exploitation, particularly involving children. This study aims to examine and analyze the legal protection of minors from the dangers of grooming on social media. This study employs normative legal research by examining relevant laws and regulations as well as expert opinions, using primary and secondary legal materials. The materials were then analyzed qualitatively to obtain an understanding of the forms of legal protection and efforts to prevent grooming. The results show that legal protection for children from the dangers of grooming can be provided through the implementation of laws and regulations concerning child protection and acts that violate decency through electronic systems. These provisions provide a legal basis for parents, communities, and law enforcement authorities to protect children and prevent grooming on social media.
