Abstract
This study examines the handling of suspects belonging to Armed Criminal Groups (KKB) in the effort to ensure the protection of human rights based on the principle of justice. The research problems include the implementation of the handling of KKB suspects and the obstacles encountered in ensuring the protection of human rights. This study employs an empirical research method with a descriptive approach. Data were collected through literature review and interviews and were then analyzed descriptively to provide an overview of the implementation of the handling of KKB suspects. The results show that the handling of KKB suspects, particularly in the implementation of duties by Brimob personnel, must be guided by legal provisions and human rights principles, including the principle of proportionality in the use of force, limitations on the use of coercive measures, and respect for the rights of suspects. The obstacles encountered include public perceptions, historical trauma toward security forces, and limited public understanding of the handling of separatist groups. The handling of KKB requires a balance between security interests, law enforcement, human rights protection, and the principle of justice.
