PENERAPAN ETIKA DAN PROFESIONALISME JURNALISTIK TELEVISI LOKAL JTV BIRO MADIUN

This study, entitled "Implementation of Ethics and Professionalism of Local Television Journalism (JTV Madiun Bureau)," aims to determine and analyze the application of journalistic ethics and journalist professionalism in reporting practices on local television, particularly at JTV Madiun Bureau. The focus of the study includes journalists' understanding of the Journalistic Code of Ethics, the application of the principles of accuracy, verification, balance (cover both sides), independence, and social responsibility, as well as factors that support and hinder their implementation. This study uses a qualitative approach with data collection techniques through in-depth interviews and observations, with sources consisting of reporters, editors, and the head of the JTV Madiun Bureau bureau. Data were analyzed descriptively through the stages of data reduction and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that JTV Madiun Bureau journalists generally understand and strive to implement the principles of journalistic ethics in their work. Professionalism is reflected in technical capabilities, compliance with operational procedures (SOPs), work ethic, and awareness of social obligations to the public. Editors act as gatekeepers in maintaining the quality and accuracy of news before broadcast. However, the implementation of ethics and professionalism still faces internal obstacles, such as deadline pressures and a limited number of journalists, as well as external obstacles such as limited access to sources and local social dynamics. Overall, this study concludes that journalistic ethics and journalist professionalism are closely related and mutually reinforcing in maintaining the credibility of local television as a public information medium.
