The increase in hypertension has a very close relationship with the elderly as a person ages. Hypertension in the elderly can be caused by a organ decline, age, genetics and unhealthy lifestyles such as consumption of junk food, excessive salt intake and lack of exercise. One therapy that can be used to reduce blood pressure in the elderly is celery leaf boiled water therapy. This literature review aims to identify the effectiveness of giving boiled celery water on reducing blood pressure in the elderly with hypertension based on the results of the analysis of the articles that have been determined.
The method used in this research is literature review. Search literature using PICOS strategy and keywords : celery boiled water, lowering blood pressure, elderly hypertension or hypertension. The database used in this research are google scholar, sinta and garuda.
Based on the results of the analysis carried out on 8 articles that have been determined, it is known that celery leaf decoction is proveb to be effective in reducing the level of hypertension. By giving boiled celery leaves 2 times a day for 7 consecutive days, every day.
The conclusion of this literature review is that the provision of an effective celery leaf decoction is an easy solution to do as an effort to reduce high blood pressure in the elderly with small side effects.
