Abstract
Self-efficacy is one of the most influential aspects of self-knowledge or self-knowledge in everyday human life. Self-efficacy affects individuals in determining the actions to be taken to achieve a goal, including estimates of various events that will be faced. This study aims to determine whether there is a relationship between self-efficacy and academic stress in students during the Covid-19 pandemic at the Muhammadiyah University of Ponorogo Bachelor of Nursing Study Program. The method used in this study is a non-experimental quantitative study using a correlation study with a cross-sectional approach. The population in this study were Bachelor of Nursing Students in semesters 6 and 8 of the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Muhammadiyah Ponorogo with a total of 136 students. The number of samples in this study were 58 respondents taken using the Simple Random Sampling Technique. Data were analyzed by Chi-Square test with a significance level of ˂ 0.05. The results of the study were that most of the 53 respondents (91.4%) had high self-efficacy, and most of the students experienced moderate academic stress with a total of 34 respondents (58.6%). Chi-Square analysis with a p value (0.033) ˂ (0.05) means that there is a relationship between self-efficacy and academic stress in students during the Covid-19 pandemic at the Bachelor of Nursing Study Program, University of Muhammadiyah Ponorogo. Self-efficacy in students is related to the academic stress experienced by students during online and offline learning. However, stressors that cause moderate stress are unfinished tasks, deadlines, and excessive workload. This research hopes that students in online and offline learning can increase self-efficacy to reduce the feeling of stress they experience.
