Abstract

Myths are folk prose stories that are still believed in the life of the community and become the history of local culture held firmly until now so as to foster strong belief in the story that is believed. Myths also give meaning to the life andknowledge of the community to things that are difficult to be explained by the mind. This study aims to find out the meaning of the message from the myth in Lake Ngebel. The method used in research is qualitative with a descriptive qualitative approach. Data obtained by conducting interviews with Mr. Siyar, Mr.Sarnu, Mr. Mujiono, and Mr. Suryadi, as well as making observations and other document results related to research. Data analyzed using qualitative analysis techniques namely data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion withdrawal. The main theory in this study uses social message theory. In this study shows that the Lake Ngebel community can apply harmony, honor, and friendship in the social life of the community. But the difference to the right of honor has not fully been able to run properly, and still looks indifferent.
