Abstract
ABSTRACT Janah, Aan Afnatul. 2022. The Implementation of Task-Based Language Teaching Approach in Improving the Students Speaking Fluency at the P2T Class of SMAN 1 Babadan. Thesis. English Department, Universitas Muhammadiyah Ponorogo. Advisors : (1) Dr. Bambang Harmanto, S.Pd., M.Pd., (2) Siti Asiyah, S.Pd., M.Pd. Key words: Task-Based Language Teaching, Speaking Fluency. This research was aimed to describe the implementation of the task-based language teaching approach in improving the students speaking fluency. The researcher used descriptive qualitative research . The data collection was through observations, interviews, and documents. While data analysis was through data reduction, data display, and data Conclusion Drawing and Verification. The researcher involved 14 students in the P2T class (kelas percepatan 2 tahun), consisting of 2 male students and 12 female students as respondents. The research was conducted in November 2021. The results of this study showed that students had improved their speaking fluency after the implementation use of task-based language teaching. The students agreed that task-based language teaching can help them enhance their speaking skills, the learning activities that will be carried out utilizing the task-based language teaching-learning model the students discussed in groups to present in front of the class. In conclusion, an appropriate task in task-based language teaching facilitated them in learning to speak. It proves that task-based language teaching is a suitable teaching strategy to use in speaking class.
