Abstract

ABSTRACT Sela Ayu Rustiya. The Principal's Strategy in Strengthening Ecological Citizenship at SMPN 1 Ngebel. Thesis. Pancasila and Citizenship Education Study Program, Muhammadiyah University of Ponorogo. Advisor 1 Hadi Cahyono, M.Pd., Advisor 2 Dr. Sutrisno, S.Pd., M.Pd. The principal's strategy in strengthening ecological citizenship is a way of instilling an attitude of caring for the environment in schools. The aims of this study were to: (1) Describe the principal's strategy in the program to strengthen ecological citizenship, (2) Describe the supporting and inhibiting factors in the implementation of the program to strengthen ecological citizenship, (3) Describe the evaluation of the implementation of the program to strengthen ecological citizenship at SMPN 1 Ngebel. This research is a qualitative research with a case study approach. Collecting data in this study are observation, interviews as well as documentation and data analysis techniques in this study namely data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of this study are: (1) The principal's strategy in strengthening ecological citizenship can be carried out in three ways or activities, namely having a vision and mission related to environmental preservation, an understanding of issues, rights and responsibilities towards the environment and the existence of excellent programs in schools . (2) Factors supporting a location that is still beautiful and green, internal inhibiting factors for students' habit of littering and external inhibiting factors for environmental care habits that are in contrast between the environment and at school (3) The form of program evaluation with context evaluation by compiling a vision and mission regarding environment and input evaluation by providing facilities and infrastructure. The implication of this research is that the school principal's strategy in strengthening ecological citizenship can be carried out in three ways: having a vision and mission related to environmental preservation, having an understanding of issues, rights and responsibilities towards the environment and having excellent programs in schools. The supporting factors and inhibiting factors come from internal and external. Furthermore, the form of program evaluation is by means of context evaluation and input evaluation. So that ecological citizenship needs to be developed in order to form an attitude of environmental preservation. And for further research by developing a curriculum through an ecological citizenship program. Keywords: Strategy, principal, ecological citizenship
