Abstract
Knowledge is the result of someone to know the object through their five senses. The result of it can affect the attitude of a person because the attitude is a form of judgement or reaction to a certain sense of thing, in this case is safety riding. Safety riding is a riding activity that pays more attention to the safety of riding and other road users to reduce accidents. The purpose of this research is to analyze the relationship between knowledge and attitudes of teenagers in safety riding in Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 2 Ponorogo. The study used Cross Sectional design with population of the 10th grade students in Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 2 Ponorogo academic year 2018-2019 who were appropriate to the criteria. The sampling technique used was Proportional Random Sampling with the sample of 78 respondents. The data collection used was questionnaire. Bivariate data analysis used Chi-Square statistical test with <0,05 significant rate. The result showed that most teenagers had good knowledge in safety riding (83,3%) or 65 respondents had positive attitudes in safety riding (60,3%) or 47 respondents. From Chi-Square statistic test, the result was a p-value 0,000 < 0,05, which meant there was a relationship between knowledge and attitudes in safety riding of 10th grade students in Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 2 Ponorogo academic year 2018-2019. By applicating safety riding, it is expected to be able to improve teenager’s knowledge and attitudes while riding. Lack of knowledge and negative attitudes can increase traffic accidents for teenagers so it is needed to hold some socialization and education about safety riding which can make teenagers aware of safety riding awareness.
