Abstract
This study aims to improve the conceptual understanding of students of class XI Sains 3 MAN 1 Ponorogo 2016/2017 academic year. The learning method used is cooperative learning methods. Understanding the concept in question is the ability to restate a concept, the ability to classify objects according to certain characteristics according to the concept, the ability to provide examples and not examples of concepts, the ability to present a concept in various forms of mathematical representation, the ability to develop necessary conditions and sufficient requirements of a concept, the ability to use, utilize, and choose certain procedures and the ability to apply concepts or algorithms to problem solving. The type of research used is classroom action research (CAR). The subjects in this study were students of class XI IPA 3 which were as many as 20 students. Data is collected through tests, while the instruments use teacher observation sheets. The data obtained were analyzed using qualitative descriptive analysis. The results in this study show the ability to understand students' concepts is increasing. This can be find out the aplication of model two stay two stray (TSTS) which is done by steep by steep two stay two stray (TSTS) so that to seen from the percentage increase in the concept understanding indicator that is equal to 8%. Based on this, it can be concluded that the Two Stay Two Stray (TSTS) method can improve students' understanding of mathematical concepts.
