Abstract

To realize a village that is clean from environmental pollution, changes are needed from the community itself and also the policies of the village government. Through policies made by the village government and the community that are easy to regulate, these changes will be easily realized. One of the problems in Ngindeng Village, Sawoo District, Ponorogo Regency is the behavior of people who still practice open defecation in the river. Factors that do not have their own latrine at home, the flow of the river that continues to flow even in the dry season and the behavior of defecating in the river has been carried out since ancient times so that in the end it became a habit for most of the people. Not only people who don't have latrines, people who already have latrines sometimes still often practice defecation in the river. Besides being able to pollute the surrounding environment, it will have a bad impact on their own health. This research uses descriptive qualitative research method. With data collection techniques from observation, interviews and documentation. The results of this study are the efforts of the Ngindeng Village government to change the behavior of people who still defecate in the river and do not have their own latrines, including the latrine program, conducting socialization to the community in collaboration with the health department regarding the importance of clean living, building toilets. In general, the river will be used as a rafting tourist destination, and will make a Village Regulation on Environmental Preservation which includes the prohibition of open defecation in the river.
