Abstract
ABSTRACT WAYANG KULIT AS A COMMUNICATION MEDIA FOR THE DELIVERY OF THE HISTORY OF PONOROGO (Puppet Show Entitled Babad Wengker By Ki Purbo Sasongko) (Mohamat Khomarudin) (16240496) Communication always goes hand in hand with human civilization, even in the context of culture. In conveying messages, not only through speeches, writings and media reports, but there are still many options for the method of conveying information, one of which is through works of art which in this case are packaged through the performance of Wayang Kulit Gagrak ponoragan called Wayang Wengker. Not just for entertainment. Wayang Wengker is a presentation of the history of Ponorogo which is packaged nicely and aesthetically, so that it is expected to be one of the options for the community in studying the history of the place where they live, namely Ponorogo Regency. In this study, researchers tried to use David.K.Berlo's theory, namely SMCR (Source, Message, channel, Receiver). So in this context Ki Purbo Sasongko as a source of information then the history of the establishment of the Wengker kingdom as a message to be conveyed through wayang performances as a medium so that it will be accepted by the public as an entertaining art product.
