Abstract
D3 Nursing students who undergo clinical practice often experience academic and psychological pressures that have an impact on mental health, one of which is anxiety which can trigger insomnia. Unaddressed anxiety will interfere with concentration, activity, and the quality of student sleep during clinical practice takes place.
This study used a quantitative correlational cross-sectional design with 52 samples of final year Nursing D3 students Muhammadiyah Ponorogo University who practiced at Soedono Madiun Hospital. The instruments used were HARS for anxiety and ISI for insomnia. The sampling technique was purposive and data analysis used the Fisher’s Exact test with a significance level (α = 0.05).
The results showed that out of 52 respondents, 31 (59.6%) experienced moderate anxiety, 12 (23.1%) mild, and 9 (17.3%) severe. A total of 38 (73.1%) experienced insomnia, and 14 (26.9%) did not experience insomnia. The Fisher’s Exact test showed a p value = 0.000 (<0.05), so that H₀ was rejected, which means that there is a relationship between anxiety levels and the incidence of insomnia in D3 Nursing Students who carry out clinical practice at Soedono Madiun Hospital.
Educational institutions are advised to provide psychosocial support and stress management training. Interventions such as relaxation and counseling are needed to improve adaptation to the clinical practice process so that it will improve student sleep quality
