Abstract
Arif Dwi Cahyono. Handling Patterns of Child Abuse Victims in the School Environment (Analytical Study at SMP Negeri 1 Jetis, Ponorogo Regency). Undergraduate Thesis. The issue of violence against children in the school environment is a serious problem that can negatively impact a child's psychological, emotional, and academic development. Such violence may take the form of physical, verbal, emotional, or digital (cyberbullying) abuse and can be perpetrated by fellow students, teachers, or other individuals within the school setting. The purposes of this study are: (1) to identify the handling patterns of children who are victims of violence at SMP Negeri 1 Jetis in Ponorogo Regency, and (2) to understand the roles of teachers and the school in addressing child abuse cases.
This study employed a qualitative research method using a case study approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis techniques included data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing with verification.
The results show that the handling of child abuse cases at SMP Negeri 1 Jetis Ponorogo is carried out through the Roots Day program. This program encompasses three types of handling strategies: preventive action, intervention, and psychological support. The implementation involves cooperation between the school and related external institutions. The role of teachers and schools is crucial in assisting students, especially in shaping and improving their character. Violence management is conducted through deliberation, open communication, and guidance for both victims and perpetrators.
