Abstract

Mathematics Education Study Program, Muhammadiyah University of Ponorogo. Supervisor I: Drs. Jumadi, M.Pd. and Supervisor II: Wahyudi, S.Si., M.Pd.
This research aims to examine the effect of applying the accelerated learning (AL) model on the numeracy skills of seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Jetis. The study was motivated by students’ low numeracy skills and the use of conventional teaching models that lacked student engagement. The AL model was selected for its interactive, enjoyable, and holistic approach that enhances the effectiveness of learning. The AL model integrates cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects into the learning process, enabling students to more easily understand and apply mathematical concepts. This approach has the potential to significantly improve numeracy skills while supporting overall learning success.
This study employed a quantitative method with a Posttest Only Control Design. The sample consisted of two randomly selected classes: class VII-H as the experimental group and VII-G as the control group. The research instrument was a numeracy test that had been validated and tested for reliability. Data were analyzed using an independent t-test with the assistance of PASW Statistics 18 for Windows.
The results of the study indicate that there is a significant effect. The t-test results show t_hitung=4,749>t_tabel=1,993 and results showed a significant effect with a significance value (2-tailed) of 0.000 < α = 0.05. Thus, the accelerated learning model is effective in improving students' numeracy skills. It is recommended that teachers apply this accelerated learning model as an alternative in the mathematics learning process.
