This study examines "The Role of Authoritative, Authoritarian, and Permissive Parenting Styles in Increasing Children's Social Self-Confidence at MI Subulul Huda Sombro, Sooko, Ponorogo." This study focuses on understanding how parental parenting styles influence the development of elementary school-aged children's social self-confidence. Children's social self-confidence in the school environment often varies, influenced by the way parents educate them. Strong social interactions are crucial for children's character development and academic success. This study aims to describe the authoritative, authoritarian, and permissive parenting styles implemented by parents, identify the factors influencing these three parenting styles, and describe the role of each parenting style in increasing children's social self-confidence at MI Subulul Huda Sombro, Sooko, Ponorogo.

This study uses a qualitative approach with narrative study, which positions humans as the primary subjects in understanding social issues. This approach allows researchers to explore the meaning behind the subjects' behaviors and experiences and understand how parents shape parenting styles based on their values, beliefs, and life experiences. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. Data analysis used the Miles and Huberman model, including data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing.

The research results show that the three parenting styles authoritative, authoritarian, and permissive are implemented by parents with different characteristics. Authoritative parenting, which emphasizes a balance between control and freedom, two-way communication, and emotional support, tends to produce children who are confident, cheerful, and sociable. Conversely, authoritarian parenting, with its strict rules and minimal emotional warmth, can foster discipline but risks making children rigid, irritable, and difficult to adapt to. While permissive parenting, while encouraging freedom and acceptance, has the potential to lead to children lacking discipline and shyness in social settings. Factors such as parental background, educational level, and economic and occupational status also influence parenting style choices. Overall, this study highlights the complexity of the impact of parenting styles on children's social self-confidence, where balance and responsiveness to children's needs are key to determining outcomes. These findings are expected to serve as a guide for parents, teachers, and policy makers in supporting optimal social development of children.
