Abstract

THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN VERBAL BULLYING AND STRESS LEVELS IN ELEVENTH-GRADE ADOLESCENTS AT SMAN 1 DOLOPO MADIUN

Verbal bullying is a form of psychological violence that frequently occurs in schools and negatively impacts the mental health of adolescents. Adolescence is known to be a period of vulnerability to various social pressures, so exposure to verbal bullying can trigger prolonged stress and even increase the risk of developing more serious mental disorders. This study aims to analyze the relationship between verbal bullying and stress levels in eleventh-grade adolescents at SMAN 1 Dolopo Madiun.
This study was conducted using quantitative methods and a cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of 69 eleventh-grade students at SMAN 1 Dolopo Madiun, selected using proportional random sampling. The research instrument, a questionnaire designed to measure verbal bullying and stress levels, was distributed online via Google Forms. Data analysis was performed using the Spearman Rank test.
The analysis results showed a significant relationship between verbal bullying and stress levels in eleventh-grade adolescents at SMAN 1 Dolopo Madiun. A p-value of 0.000 (p ≤ 0,05) indicates statistical significance, while a correlation coefficient of 0.413 indicates a fairly strong positive relationship. This means that the higher the intensity of verbal bullying experienced by students, the higher their stress levels.
This finding provides an important foundation for schools and parents to pay closer attention to students' mental health. Intervention and prevention of verbal bullying need to be implemented as early as possible to minimize the negative impact on adolescents' psychological development.
