ABSTRACT
APPLICATION OF WARM COMPRESS TO HYPERTENSION PATIENTS
WITH ACUTE PAIN NURSING PROBLEMS
at RSU 'Aisyiyah Ponorogo

Pain in patients with hypertension is usually felt in the neck and head.
Structural changes in blood flow cause blockages in blood vessels, reducing oxygen
delivery to the brain. Consequently, the blood vessel walls compress the nerve
fibers in the neck muscles, resulting in pain in the neck and head. This study aims
to provide nursing care for hypertensive patients with acute pain at 'Aisyiyah
General Hospital in Ponorogo.
The method used is a descriptive approach that refers to the nursing process
for hypertensive patients with acute pain. This approach combines assessment,
diagnosis formulation, intervention planning, implementation, and evaluation as
part of the nursing process. Treatment was provided for 5 days, from September 8
to 12, 2025. To help the hypertensive patient reduce pain, warm compresses were
applied twice daily for 5 days. Subjective data showed that the patient reported
reduced pain (a pain scale of 1) and improved sleep patterns, indicating that the
nursing process demonstrated that warm compresses reduced pain in hypertensive
patients.
Nursing care for hypertensive clients with acute pain nursing problems is
expected to provide an overview for hypertensive patients, especially those with
acute pain, so that they can apply warm compresses independently when the pain
arises
.
