Abstract

Mutiatul Rohmah. 2026. The Strategies of Islamic Cultural History Teachers in Enhancing Students' Learning Interest at State Islamic Senior High School 2 Ponorogo. Islamic Religious Education Study Program. Faculty of Islamic Religion. Advisors: (I) Dr. Anip Dwi Saputro, M.Pd., and (II) Azid Syukroni, M.Pd.

This study aims to examine the strategies employed by Islamic Cultural History (SKI) teachers in enhancing students' learning interest at State Islamic Senior High School 2 Ponorogo. The research focuses on: (1) the planning and organization of learning, (2) the implementation of teachers' strategies and their effects on students' learning interest, and (3) the supporting and inhibiting factors in their implementation. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach with a single case study design. Data were obtained through in-depth interviews with three SKI teachers, the Vice Principal for Curriculum Affairs, and students from various class programs, as well as through participatory observation and documentation. Data analysis was conducted using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldana, comprising data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing.

The findings reveal three main results. First, Islamic Cultural History (SKI) instruction is delivered through a Problem Based Learning (PBL) approach integrated with the Semester Credit System (SKS), the Merdeka Curriculum, and the Love-Based Curriculum (KBC), organized through the stages of literacy, explanation, presentation, and discussion, each adapted to the conditions of the respective class programs. Second, the implementation of discussion, presentation, technology, differentiated instruction, and affective approaches has proven capable of enhancing students' learning interest in both cognitive and affective aspects, although its effectiveness varies across class programs. Third, the success of the learning process is supported by technological facilities and institutional support from the madrasah, whereas the constraints include limited references, students' individual characteristics, the position of Islamic Cultural History (SKI) outside the Academic Competency Test, and differing perceptions regarding time allocation. Accordingly, strengthened coordination among madrasah stakeholders and further research with a broader scope are required.
