Abstract

This research is motivated by the ineffective teaching of Islamic Cultural History (SKI) in strengthening the character of patriotism at MA Muhammadiyah 1 Ponorogo. This issue stems from students' perceptions of history as a boring, rote-memorization subject, as well as classroom practices that remain dominated by cognitive orientation rather than affective development. Consequently, the potential of SKI materials, which are inherently rich in religious-patriotic values, has not been optimally internalized by the students.
This research is classified as a qualitative study using a field research approach through a case study method. Data collection techniques were conducted through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation at MA Muhammadiyah 1 Ponorogo. The data analysis techniques include the processes of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The objectives of this study are to: (1) determine the implementation of Islamic Cultural History (SKI) learning; and (2) analyze the impact of SKI learning on strengthening students' character of love for the motherland.
The findings of this research are as follows: (1) The implementation of SKI learning is managed through structured instructional management, starting with meticulous planning through lesson plans (RPP) oriented toward transforming the values of historical struggle into habitual behavior. The implementation phase involves utilizing digital technology, such as Islamic history videos, to transform classrooms into discussion spaces to overcome low reading interest. The evaluation phase focuses not only on cognitive administrative scores but prioritizes affective aspects through wisdom reflection (ibrah), observation of daily disciplined behavior, and instilling care for civilizational heritage. (2) The impact of SKI learning is identified across five main dimensions: the emergence of awareness that loyalty to the homeland is a part of worship, the growth of environmental care within the school, and the strengthening of the Indonesian language as a unifying tool. Furthermore, students have developed into individuals who take pride in preserving the acculturated culture of Islam Nusantara and demonstrate social concern through active participation in society. This synergy of integrating faith and nationalism within SKI has successfully formed a moral filter for students in facing global influences in the digital era.
