Abstract

English language education in Indonesia has been introduced since elementary school (SD), middle school (SMP), high school (SMA) and even up to university level. English language learning will be more effective when using learning media to support learning. One of the learning media used is student worksheets. The use of student worksheets as an English learning tool is expected to help students in learning English.
The aim of this research is to reveal and describe how students use worksheets as a media for learning English, how students learn English using student worksheets and what students think or how students respond when learning English using student worksheets at MTsN 5 Ponorogo .
In this research, the method used is qualitative with reference to descriptive analysis. The data collection techniques used were observation, interviews and documentation for the subjects of this research, students at MTsN 5 Ponorogo in grades 7 and 8. The research was conducted on 22 and 25 January 2024.
Based on the results of this research, the researcher found that English learning at MTsN 5 Ponorogo was in grade 7 and 8 use student worksheets as learning media. The teacher conveys the material contained in the students' worksheets and the teachers also provide practice questions in the worksheets to the students. There are several ways for students to learn using worksheets, such as taking notes and marking the material being explained, students also looking for further explanations via the internet if there is material that they find difficult to understand. Student responded regarding the use of student worksheets as a media for learning English are student worksheets are quite good as a media for learning English because the material contained in student worksheets is quite easy to understand and learn. and the way they learn is also efficient in their understanding of English learning. If they encounter difficulties, they will look for answers via the internet or discuss them with the teacher.
