The student's inhibition of speaking in the classroom, there is a need for media that can enhance student speaking media that doesn't make students passive in speaking but active during learning.The use of vlogs in speaking classrooms is present interactive videos and give students the opportunity to express themselves as well as the demand to think critically in creating vlog video related to speaking tasks.This research aims to (1) describe the effectiveness of vlogs as a learning medium in student speaking achievement; (2) describe how much influence vlogs have as a medium used in learning to enhance student speaking in the tenth grade SMAN 1 Badegan Ponorogo.
This research was experimental research with the population covering all tenth-grade student of SMAN 1 Badegan Ponorogo consisting of ten classes. The X5 and X1 classes, were randomly chosen as sample. The X5 class was taught by using vlogs as media in learning speaking and the X1 class was taught by using convensional learning. The data collection technique was a post- test only, while the instrument used to collect the data were speaking test with project. The data analysis to look at the effectiveness of Using Vlogs Toward Student Speaking Achievement in terms dependent variable was independent sample T-test, while for analyzing the influnces vlogs as media in learning speaking was used cohen d-effect size level.
The result showed that the sig while for the independent samples T-test the value (sig. 2-tailed) was 0.00, is smaller than 0.05, the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected, and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is acceppted and for the Cohens d-effect size level, the value was d = 1.218, it was also found that by using video vlogs as a medium, students can optimize their speaking more when presenting videos, they are more creative, and students become more competitive in presenting the best vlogs. The results showed that the use of vlogs is effective in improving the speaking achievement of tenth grade students at SMAN 1 Badegan.
These findings support the effectiveness of using vlogs in improving students' speaking achievement in English learning. Based on the research findings and conclusions, this research can be a reference for teachers to use vlogs as an interesting and fun medium for students. For further research, it is recommended to use this research as a reference in developing existing findings and conducting further research. For the institution, it can be used as a form of input in the implementation of learning that can improve the students speaking achievement.
