'Elinda Susanti , Application of the Montessori Method to Develop Independent
Character in RA Aisyiyah Pandak Balong Students. Thesis. Early Childhood

Using the Montessori method to develop children's independent character is
very important. This research aims to: (1) To describe the Application of the
Montessori Method to Cultivate Independent Character in RA Aisyiyah Pandak
Balong Students, and (2) To describe the supporting and inhibiting factors in the
Application of the Montessori Method to Cultivate Independent Character in RA
Aisyiyah Pandak Balong Students.
This research used a descriptive qualitative approach and was carried out on
RA Aisyiyah Pandak Balong students on June 11 2024. The data sources in this
research were inductive, where the principal, teachers and students were the main
sources, while documents such as lesson plans and observation notes be a source of
supporting data. This research data collection technique uses observation,
interviews and documentation. The data analysis technique used is the Miles and
Huberman model which includes data collection, data reduction, data presentation
and drawing conclusions. The validity of this research uses data triangulation
techniques.
From the results of the observations, it can be concluded that the results of
this research show that the application of the Montessori method to foster
independent character in RA Aisyiyah Pandak Balong students is going well.
Teachers use three steps in implementing the Montessori method: . The teacher
prepares learning media, prepares the material to be studied, invites students to
carry out independent activities such as: wearing shoes, tidying up shoes, and
watering plants. Students demonstrate the ability to organize themselves, tidy up
tools after use, and manage their own time. The application of the Montessori
method in cultivating independent character in early childhood is limited by the
lack of necessary Montessori learning materials and tools, which often require a
large amount of money. Additionally, teachers require special training to implement
these methods effectively, which requires additional time and investment.
