Abstract

SITI AN NISA: The Effect of Adversity Quotient on Mathematical Resilience. Thesis. Ponorogo: Mathematics Education Study Program, Muhammadiyah University of Ponorogo, 2024.
Adversity quotient which is the ability to overcome difficulties, plays an important role in determining a person's reaction to challenges. Resilience and the ability to overcome challenges are needed for students to have a positive attitude in facing problems or difficulties in mathematics lessons. This study aims to describe whether or not there is an effect of adversity quotient on mathematical resilience.
This research is a quantitative approach. The population in this study included all XI grade students at SMA Negeri 1 Babadan in the 2023/2024 academic year with a total of 9 classes, namely classes XI 1 to XI 9. Through cluster random sampling technique, XI 2 and XI 3 grade students totaling 61 students were taken as research samples. Data collection techniques in this study were carried out using non-test instruments in the form of questionnaires which included adversity quotient questionnaires and mathematical resilience questionnaires. The data analysis technique was carried out by simple linear regression method to determine the influence of adversity quotient variable on mathematical resilience variable.
The results of research with simple linear regression analysis at a significance level of 5% obtained a Sig value of 0.000 which is less than 0.05 and the coefficient of adversity quotient is positive, meaning that adversity quotient has a positive and significant effect on mathematical resilience. The test results of the coefficient of determination (R Square) obtained a value of 0.388 which means that mathematical resilience is influenced by adversity quotient by 38.8%, while 61.2% is influenced by other variables. The R Square (R^2 ) value of 0.388 shows that the contribution of adversity quotient to mathematical resilience is in the moderate category.
