DIFFERENCES IN THE EFFECTIVENESS OF HEALTH EDUCATION USING ANIMATED VIDEO MEDIA AND BOOKLET MEDIA ON TEETH BRUSHING BEHAVIOR IN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL CHILDREN AT SDN 1 BLEMBEM

Dental health is an important thing in the lives of elementary school children, especially the correct way to brush their teeth. One method that can be used to improve behavior is to provide health education. The purpose of this study was to determine the Difference in the Effectiveness of Health Education Using Animated Video Media and Booklet Media on Tooth Brushing Behavior in Elementary School Children.
The research method is quasi experiment with two group pretest–posttest design. The population in this sample is elementary school children of SDN 1 Blembem totaling 44 respondents. Sampling using Simple Random Sampling, knowing the number of samples using the Slovin formula obtained 30 samples. Data analysis using the Independent Sample T-Test. The results of this study are that there is no difference in effectiveness between animated video media and booklet media on tooth brushing behavior in children. Analysis using the Independent Sample T-Test to assess the difference in effectiveness between animated video media and booklets, obtained a p-value of 0.183> p 0.05 meaning there is no significant difference in effectiveness between video media and booklets but there is a difference in the average animated video media is higher, namely 46.80 while the booklet media is 43.73.
Based on the results of this study, the animated video and booklet methods both increase tooth brushing behavior in school-age children, but in this study there was no significant difference in effectiveness between the animated video and booklet methods. It is hoped that this study can be used as a method in increasing correct tooth brushing behavior in elementary school-age children.
