Abstract

The development of technology increases the risk of data manipulation and document forgery, such as the PPDB case in Makassar and signature forgery in Riau Islands. From this research, a digital signature system based on AES-256 and RSA algorithms is produced at the integrated service of the Faculty of Engineering, Muhammadiyah Ponorogo University to ensure the authenticity, integrity, and efficiency of the letter signing process. AES-256 is used to encrypt documents, while RSA produces digital signatures that are converted to QR codes. Avalanche effect testing was conducted to measure the algorithm's sensitivity to data changes. As a result, AES-256 produced an average bit change of 49.94% and RSA 50.51% out of 50 samples, showing high sensitivity to changes of at least 1 bit. Change rates close to 50% prove the effectiveness of both algorithms in detecting data manipulation. The system implementation enables quick verification by administrative staff and deans through QR codes, replacing conventional signatures that are vulnerable to forgery. The results prove that both algorithms are effective in detecting unauthorized modifications, so the system is able to maintain overall document security. The implementation of digital signature is expected to increase the efficiency of administrative processes and reduce the risk of forgery, as well as make a positive contribution to information security in the academic environment.
