Abstract

Krismonika. 2024. Buy and sell transactions at the Banu traditional market in Ngrayun Subdistrict, Ponorogo Regency. Thesis. Syaria Economics Study Program, Faculty of Islamic Religion, Muhammadiyah University of Ponorogo. Supervisor I: Dr. Nurul Iman, Lc., M.H.I. Supervisor II: Arif Hartono, S.E.,M.Sa.
Keywords : Buying and selling transactions, Traditional market, Implementation of Islamic business ethics.
Buying and selling is an activity of exchanging goods or possessions permanently or indefinitely. A market is one of the places where people engage in buying and selling activities. Buying and selling activities are considered a basic need for the local population to meet their daily lives. In Islam, when engaging in buying and selling, it is required to prioritize the principle of mutual consent. This is intended to avoid usury (riba).
The purpose of this study is to understand how the practice of buying and selling transactions takes place at the Banu traditional market in Ngrayun Subdistrict, Ponorogo Regency, and also to examine the perspective of Islamic business ethics on these buying and selling practices at the Banu traditional market. Observing that some traders still use the traditional buying and selling system, this has drawn the researcher’s attention to conduct a study at this traditional market. The study aims to find out whether the Muslim-majority community at the Banu traditional market has already implemented Islamic business ethics in their transactions or not. This research uses a qualitative method. The data collected is primary data obtained directly, as well as secondary data obtained from books and records from the Banu traditional market officials. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, and documentation. The data method used is qualitative data along with a perspective on Islamic business ethics.
The results of the research show that based on the observations obtained from the traders at the Banu market in Ngrayun Subdistrict, Ponorogo Regency, when viewed from the four indicators of the principles of Islamic business ethics used as benchmarks based on the contracting parties, the object of the contract, the offer and acceptance, and the ethics of determining prices the implementation of Islamic business ethics at the Banu market has been mostly well applied. However, there are still some discrepancies that do not align with the indicators of Islamic business ethics used as benchmarks. Based on the observations from the traders at the Banu market in Ngrayun Subdistrict, Ponorogo Regency, when looking at the four indicators of Islamic business ethics, in terms of traditional buying and selling, capital aspects, transaction methods, and the quality and quantity of goods, some traders still do not fully adhere to the principles of Islamic business ethics.
