Abstract

Literacy development is an important aspect of education, especially in preparing students to face life's challenges. Most Indonesian immigrant children in Malaysia have limited literacy skills, and many cannot yet use the Indonesian language well because their environment uses the Malay language. This study aims to identify the impact of a game-based learning approach combined with daily life on students' Indonesian language literacy skills at Sanggar Bimbingan Belajar At- Tanzil Pandan Jaya Kuala Lumpur Malaysia. Using qualitative methods, in-depth interviews and observations were conducted with students to obtain a comprehensive view of the implementation of this approach. The research results show that using the Word Warriors game in learning increases student engagement, strengthens their critical thinking skills, helps them better understand literacy concepts, and enhances their Indonesian vocabulary to prepare for their future. Based on these findings, it is recommended that elementary schools integrate game-based approaches in learning to enjoyably maximize students' literacy potential.
