Abstract

Frela Audritia.The Influence of Social Media on Student Political Culture in terms
of content frequently viewed by students, Thesis. Pancasila and Citizenship
Education Study Program, Muhammadiyah University Ponorogo. Supervisor 1 Dr.
Ardhana Januar Mahardhani SAP., MKP., Supervisor 2 Dr. Sulton M.Sc.
This research aims to: (1) Find out the use of social media among students
at Muhammadiyah University of Ponorogo, (2) Find out about political culture
among students at Muhammadiyah University of Ponorogo, (3) Find out the
influence between social media and political culture at Muhammadiyah University
of Ponorogo.
This research uses a quantitative approach with a survey method among
active students at Muhammadiyah University of Ponorogo, totaling 97 respondents.
Data was collected through a Google Form questionnaire distributed to each faculty
and class. The results of the questionnaire were processed using the SPSS 18
application. The results of the research data show that (1) The use of social media
among students is very high, with the dominance of political meme content and
breaking political news. (2) Political culture among students is oriented towards
cognitive, affective and evaluative aspects. (3) There is an influence of social media
on student political culture with test results showing a significance value of 0.00
with an influence of 84%.
