Tuberculosis (TB) is a disease caused by the bacteria Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Treatment for tuberculosis patients is with anti-tuberculosis drugs (OAT). Compliance with taking medication is an important factor that has a direct influence on the recovery of TB patients. TB treatment requires a duration of at least 6 months, this can result in patient non-compliance with treatment. The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between medication adherence and recovery rates in tuberculosis patients at the Panekan Community Health Center UPTD.
This research uses an analytical observational research method with a retrospective cross sectional approach. The population of this study was 94 TB sufferers who received Tuberculosis Treatment at the Panekan Community Health Center in 2024. Using a purposive sampling technique, a sample of 34 respondents was obtained. The research instrument used a questionnaire and crosscheck of Medical Records, Form Sheets TBC.01 and 02. The statistical test used was Fisher's Exact.
The research results showed that 30 respondents (88.2%) had high compliance and 4 respondents (11.8%) had moderate compliance. Then there were 30 respondents who recovered (88.2%) and 4 respondents who had not recovered (11.8%). Based on the results of the Fisher's Exact test, it was found that p-value = 0.000 and α = 0.005, meaning there is a relationship between adherence to taking medication and the cure rate for Tuberculosis patients at the Panekan Community Health Center UPTD.
If compliance with taking medication is high, then recovery in tuberculosis patients will also increase. It is hoped that Tuberculosis patients can complete treatment for up to 6 months with complete treatment so that transmission of TB disease can be prevented and resistance to OAT does not occur.
