Abstract
ABSTRACT
Galih Siswanto. Partisipasi Warga dalam Menurunkan Stunting di Desa Krebet Kecamatan Jambon Kabupaten Ponorogo. Thesis. Study Program of Pancasila and Civic Education, Muhammadiyah University of Ponorogo. Advisor 1 Dr. Sutrisno, S.Pd., M.Pd. Advisor 2 Dr. Sulton, M.Si.
Based on data from the Ponorogo District Health Office, the prevalence of stunting in Ponorogo Regency reached 13.1% in 2023. In 2024, the stunting rate in Ponorogo Regency decreased to 9.3%. One of the villages with a relatively high stunting rate is Krebet Village, located in Jambon Sub-district. The people of Krebet Village, often labeled as a “village of idiots,” have shown active involvement in efforts to reduce stunting in their community. This study aims to: 1) analyze the forms of community participation in reducing stunting in Krebet Village, and 2) identify the factors that influence community participation in reducing stunting in Krebet Village, Jambon Sub-district, Ponorogo Regency. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collection techniques including observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Informants include residents, health cadres, and village officials involved in stunting programs. The data analysis techniques used in this study consist of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing.
The results show that Krebet Village—often considered underdeveloped and whose residents are stigmatized as a “village of idiots”—has demonstrated strong and enthusiastic involvement in efforts to reduce stunting. This participation is reflected in direct contributions of labor and skills by residents, such as participation in health-related activities and the implementation of programs in the field. Factors encouraging participation include being of productive age, the role of women in the household, length of residence in the village, residents’ willingness, and free health services provided to the community. On the other hand, low education levels, work commitments, and limited time serve as barriers to more optimal participation. The findings from Krebet Village offer valuable lessons for other villages facing similar challenges in reducing stunting. Negative stereotypes or social labels such as “underdeveloped village” or “village of idiots” do not hinder community members from actively contributing to health development. This proves that collective spirit, awareness, and citizen participation can become key strengths in the success of social programs, including stunting reduction efforts.
