THE EFFECT OF DHIKR ON PAIN RELIEF IN BPH PATIENTS AFTER TURP SURGERY AT MUHAMMADIYAH GENERAL HOSPITAL, PONOROGO

BPH occurs with aging, and its exact cause is unknown. Surgical intervention is often required, and pain is a common postoperative problem. This study aimed to determine the effect of dhikr (remembrance of God) on pain reduction in post-TURP BPH patients.
The study design used a one-group pretest-posttest with a Numerical Rating Scale. The population of 169 BPH patients in 2024 was 169, with a sample size of 15 respondents based on the average monthly BPH patient intake using purposive sampling. Data analysis and processing were conducted using coding, scoring, and tabulation using the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks test with a significance level of 0.05.
The results showed that of the 15 respondents, 13 (87.0%) of the post-TURP BPH patients were categorized as mild pain after dhikr therapy, and 2 (13.0%) were categorized as moderate pain. This study used a 95% confidence level with a 5% significance level. The results of data analysis using the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test showed a significance level of 0.001 < 0.05, thus rejecting Ho and accepting Ha, indicating an effect of dhikr therapy on pain reduction in post-TURP BPH patients.
Conclusion: There is an effect of dhikr therapy on pain reduction in post-TURP BPH patients, indicating that it can be used as a nursing intervention using distraction techniques using dhikr therapy for post-TURP BPH patien.
