Abstract
ABSTRACT
THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN SELF-EFFICACY AND QUALITY OF LIFE IN PATIENTS WITH PULMONARY TUBERCULOSIS IN THE WORKING AREAS OF SUKOREJO AND BALONG HEALTH CENTERS, PONOROGO REGENCY
By: Siti Wulandari
Pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) is a chronic infectious disease that affects the physical, psychological, and social conditions of patients. Self-efficacy plays an important role in improving quality of life, as confidence in one’s abilities influences treatment adherence. This study aimed to determine the relationship between self-efficacy and quality of life among pulmonary TB patients at Sukorejo and Balong Health Centers, Ponorogo Regency. The research used a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 35 respondents selected using a total sampling technique. Instruments included the General Self-Efficacy Scale (GSES) to measure self-efficacy and WHOQOL-BREF to assess quality of life. Data were analyzed using the Fisher-exact. Most respondents had high self-efficacy and good quality of life, with 80% of those with high self-efficacy having moderate-to-high quality of life, while 86.7% of those with low self-efficacy had low quality of life. Statistical analysis showed p = 0.000 (< 0.05), indicating a significant relationship between self-efficacy and quality of life in pulmonary TB patients. High self-efficacy supports an improved quality of life for pulmonary TB patients; therefore, interventions to strengthen self-efficacy are needed to ensure successful treatment.
