Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers play a very important role in shaping the character of students. In addition to being the main figures in this process, PAI teachers also have a big responsibility in educating, teaching, guiding, and training students so that they grow into individuals who believe in, fear God Almighty, have good morals, are knowledgeable, and responsible. The main focus of PAI teachers is moral strengthening, which requires a deep understanding of character and ethics. To achieve this goal of character education, PAI teachers are required to use appropriate learning strategies and methods in instilling positive values in students.
This study aims to investigate the role of Islamic Education teachers in the formation of students' character, as well as to analyze various steps and approaches used to strengthen moral values.
Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif. Metode pengumpulan data melalui wawancara, observasi dan dokumentasi. Analisis data menggunakan reduksi, display dan verifikasi data.
The results of this study are: 1) This role is carried out in a planned and systematic manner, covering four main components, namely the preparation of character learning objectives. Integration of character values in Islamic Religious Education Material. Character building strategies. Collaboration between parents and homeroom teachers in building student character. 2) The implementation of the role of Islamic Religious Education teachers in shaping independent character and student responsibility is carried out through several approaches and strategies of the teacher's role as: role models, Integrated Learning of Character Values, Habitual Methods and Routine Activities, Giving Tasks and Responsibilities, Implementing Rewards and Punishments, Involvement in Extracurricular Activities; 3) Evaluation of the Results of the Role of Islamic Religious Education Teachers in Shaping Independent Character and Student Responsibility at MTs Hasan Munadi as follows: 1) internal evaluation by teachers. Evaluation of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers not only teaches the values of independence and responsibility, but also actively tracks and assesses the development of student character through a systematic approach carried out through: daily behavioral observations, daily/weekly reflections, affective assessments in report cards. 2) Evaluation from homeroom teachers and parents; 3) Periodic reports by homeroom teachers; 4) communication with parents.
