A hernia is a condition in which an organ or tissue in the body protrudes through a gap or weak spot in the surrounding muscle or supporting tissue. A hernia occurs due to weakness in the muscle or tissue wall, causing the organ (usually the intestine) to protrude. This condition cannot be rehabilitated without surgery; it can only enlarge over time. Post-operative hernia patients experience pain due to the surgical procedure, creating acute pain nursing challenges. Early mobilization interventions can help reduce pain and accelerate the healing process.
This study used a case study design with a nursing process approach. The subject was a post-hernia surgery patient in the KH. Mas Mansur Ward, Muhammadiyah Ponorogo General Hospital. Early mobilization intervention was carried out twice daily in a phased manner, lasting two days in the hospital and three days at home. Data collection was conducted through observational interviews and gradual early mobilization exercises tailored to the patient's condition.
The results showed a decrease in pain on the first day, with a pain scale of 7, and a pain scale of 3 on the last day. Early mobilization therapy can be recommended as a non-pharmacological intervention to support pain reduction in post-operative hernia patients.
