Abstract

Sapto Riyadi, 2025, (“The Internalization of Islamic Moral Values Based on Local Wisdom at SMK Negeri Tulakan, Pacitan Regency”). Thesis, Postgraduate Program, Muhammadiyah University of Ponorogo. Advisors: (1) Dr. Afiful Ikhwan, M.Pd.I, (2) Dr. Syamsul Arifin, M.Pd.
This study aims to describe the process of internalizing Islamic moral values based on local wisdom at SMK Negeri Tulakan, Pacitan Regency, as well as to identify the supporting and inhibiting factors in its implementation. The background of this research lies in the urgency of moral education that is not only oriented toward cognitive aspects, but also integrates local wisdom values as a manifestation of culture-based character education.
The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The research problems were formulated as follows: (1) Why is local wisdom considered relevant in shaping the Islamic morality of students at SMK Negeri Tulakan, Pacitan Regency? (2) What strategies are implemented by the school to integrate local wisdom into the formation of students’ Islamic morality? (3) What are the impacts of changes in students’ morality after the implementation of the local wisdom–based approach at SMK Negeri Tulakan?
The findings reveal that the internalization of Islamic moral values based on local wisdom is highly relevant for SMK Negeri Tulakan, Pacitan Regency. The process takes place through three stages: value transformation (instilling values through learning and teachers’ role modeling), value transaction (interaction and habituation within school and community activities), and transinternalization (deepening values through students’ personal reflection and meaning-making). The local wisdom integrated includes traditions of mutual cooperation (gotong royong), Javanese etiquette, and religious values embedded in the local culture. Supporting factors include the active role of teachers as role models, a religious school environment, and community involvement. Meanwhile, inhibiting factors include the influence of global culture, lack of synergy between school and family, and limited supporting facilities.
This study concludes that the internalization of Islamic moral values based on local wisdom at SMK Negeri Tulakan, Pacitan Regency, is an effective strategy for shaping students’ noble character, provided it is supported by sustainable synergy among schools, families, and the community.
