This study aims to identify the relationship between peer conformity and self-image of students at the Faculty of Islamic Studies, Muhammadiyah University of Ponorogo. Students are in the early adulthood phase, which is characterized by increasing intensity of social interactions, especially with peer groups, so that conformity becomes an important aspect that is potentially related to the formation of self-image. This study uses a quantitative approach with a correlational design and cross-sectional method. The research sample consisted of 90 students from the study programs of Islamic Religious Education, Madrasah Ibtida'iyah Teacher Education, Islamic Psychology, Sharia Economics, and Islamic Library and Information Science. The sample selection was carried out using a purposive sampling technique based on the criteria of active students at the Faculty of Islamic Studies, being in the early adulthood age range, and having intense interactions with peers in the lecture environment. The data collection instruments were a peer conformity scale (18 items; α = 0.729) and a self-image scale (23 items; α = 0.894) that have met the validity and reliability tests. Data analysis was carried out using descriptive statistics, classical assumption tests, and Pearson Product Moment correlation tests with the help of the SPSS program. The results of the descriptive analysis showed that the level of peer conformity was in the moderate category with an average value of 47.13 (SD = 4.897), as well as the self-image of students which was in the moderate category with an average value of 68.93 (SD = 8.582). The classical assumption test showed that the data were normally distributed (p = 0.051) and had a linear relationship (p = 0.695). The results of the Pearson correlation test showed a significant negative relationship between peer conformity and student self-image (r = −0.418; p < 0.05), which indicates that variations in the level of conformity are related to variations in student self-image.
