Caesarean section is a surgical procedure to deliver a fetus by opening the abdominal wall and uterine wall. Pharmacological treatment of acute pain can lead to dependency. Therefore, to reduce acute pain, non-pharmacological therapy can be implemented by administering Lavender Aromatherapy. The goal of this therapy is to reduce acute pain in post-Caesarean section patients. Nursing care was provided to Mrs. A, with a medical diagnosis of G2P0A1 Post Date+Feb post-Caesarean Section, with acute pain as a nursing problem. The method used was a case study with a nursing process approach, data collection through interviews, interventions, primary implementation, and evaluation using Lavender aromatherapy.
The nursing assessment results showed that the patient had acute pain on a scale of 6 after the caesarean section. The nursing intervention was lavender aromatherapy. Implementation was given for 10 minutes, for 5 consecutive days. A final evaluation after 5 days of lavender aromatherapy indicated a decrease in acute pain levels.
Nursing care for patients with post-cesarean section pain is expected to provide an overview and apply guidelines in providing nursing care. Non-pharmacological therapy with lavender aromatherapy can be given to post-cesarean section patients to manage acute pain.
