Abstract
This imitation brings complex influences, both positive impacts and less appropriate language habits. This study aims to examine the phenomenon of language imitation among children aged 5–6 years from YouTube within Vygotsky's perspective. This qualitative descriptive phenomenological study involved 20 group B children at TK Kartika IV 17 Madiun. Data were gathered through one week of direct observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed interactively. Children imitate vocabulary, tone, expressions, and speaking styles from YouTube and use them at school. This imitation positively enriches vocabulary and develops expression variations. However, raw imitation without teacher or parent guidance also triggers negative impacts like decreased politeness (e.g., the phrase "tak sogok"). Based on Vygotsky's theory, a functional shift occurs where peer interaction reduces merely to seeking validation and group familiarity. Consequently, children are trapped in the "asbun" (sound-only) phenomenon, simply duplicating sounds for play solidarity without understanding the true meaning.
