In the Amal Sehat Wonogiri Hospital Work Area By:
Risky Arumsasi
Introduction: Patients undergoing hemodialysis often experience pain during the procedure, particularly due to vascular access placement and the duration of therapy. Uncontrolled pain can affect patients’ psychological conditions and trigger anxiety. This study aimed to determine the relationship between pain levels and anxiety levels among hemodialysis patients at Amal Sehat Wonogiri Hospital. Methods: This study employed a quantitative research method with a cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 42 patients who routinely underwent hemodialysis at Amal Sehat Wonogiri Hospital. Data were collected using the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) to measure pain levels and the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HARS) questionnaire to assess anxiety levels. Data analysis: was performed using the Pearson Chi-Square test and Fisher’s Exact Test with a significance level of α = 0.05. Results: The results showed that most respondents experienced moderate pain, with 19 respondents (45%), and severe anxiety, with 14 respondents (33.3%). The Fisher’s Exact Test showed a p-value of 0.001 (p < 0.05), indicating a statistically significant relationship between pain levels and anxiety levels among hemodialysis patients. Conclusion: There was a significant relationship between pain levels and anxiety levels among hemodialysis patients at Amal Sehat Wonogiri Hospital. Higher pain levels were associated with increased anxiety levels experienced by patients. Therefore, healthcare providers should provide optimal pain management and psychological support to improve comfort and quality of life among hemodialysis patients.
