Abstract

ABSTRACK
The Relationship between Brisk Walking Physical Activity and Blood Pressure among Hypertension Patients in Sukosari Village, Sukosari Primary Health Center Working Area, Ponorogo Regency

By : Fahad Ghanisafa Haqiqi

Hypertension is a non-communicable disease that increases the risk of cardiovascular disease, stroke, and kidney failure. One recommended nonpharmacological strategy to help control blood pressure is regular brisk walking. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between brisk walking physical activity and blood pressure among patients with hypertension in Sukosari Village, Sukosari Primary Health Center Working Area, Ponorogo Regency. A descriptive correlational study with a cross-sectional approach was conducted involving 33 hypertensive patients selected using total sampling. The independent variable was brisk walking physical activity, while the dependent variable was blood pressure. Data were analyzed using frequency distribution and Fisher's Exact Test. The results showed that 28 respondents (84.8%) performed brisk walking according to the study criteria and 30 respondents (90.9%) had normal blood pressure. Fisher's Exact Test showed a significant relationship between brisk walking physical activity
and blood pressure (p = 0.002; p<0.05). Regular brisk walking is associated with blood pressure among patients with hypertension and may serve as a nonpharmacological strategy to support blood pressure control.
