ABSTRACT
IMPLEMENTATION OF SOY MILK ADMINISTRATION FOR POSTPARTUM MOTHERS WITH INEFFECTIVE BREASTFEEDING NURSING ISSUES IN THE SITI WALIDAH ROOM, MUHAMMADIYAH GENERAL HOSPITAL PONOROGO

Ineffective breastfeeding is a common issue among postpartum mothers due to suboptimal breast milk output. This condition is typically characterized by low milk production and a milk ejection reflex that is not yet fully effective.
This study aimed to examine the application of nursing care for a postpartum mother experiencing the nursing diagnosis of ineffective breastfeeding. A case study method was employed, focusing on a single client Mrs. N at the Siti Walidah Room at Muhammadiyah General Hospital Ponorogo. The nursing process encompassed stages ranging from assessment to evaluation. Implementation was carried out over a seven days period (April, 8-14, 2026)and involved the administration of soy milk (two 250 ml servings daily, consumed in the morning and afternoon), alongside observation of the breastfeeding process, breastfeeding education, and monitoring of breast milk production.
The implementation of nursing care resulted in improved breast milk and a better milk ejection reflex, the infant appeared more satisfied after nursing, and the mother felt more comfortable during the breastfeeding process. Based on the evaluation, the issue of ineffective breastfeeding improved in accordance with the established goals and outcome criteria.
The conclusion of this study is that the administration of soy milk as a non-pharmacological intervention combined with breastfeeding education and support can help alleviate ineffective breastfeeding issues among postpartum mothers. This intervention can serve as an alternative approach in nursing care to facilitate smooth breast milk production.
