Abstract
Nanda Intan Reformisa Nagari. 2026. THESIS. The Influence of Family Support
on the Self-Resilience of Class of 2023 Students at the Faculty of Islamic Studies,
Universitas Muhammadiyah Ponorogo. Supervisor I: Dr. Muh. Tajab, M.A.,
Supervisor II: Yusuf Hamdani Abdi, M.Psi. Class of 2023 students at the Faculty of
Islamic Studies, Universitas Muhammadiyah Ponorogo, are in a transitional phase
toward higher education, a period fraught with academic, social, and emotional
demands. Some students particularly those living away from their parents report
low levels of family support, which negatively impacts their resilience capacity
when facing academic pressure. This situation highlights the importance of a
scientific study regarding the relationship between family support and student self
resilience within the Faculty of Islamic Studies at Universitas Muhammadiyah
Ponorogo. This study aims to analyze the influence of family support on the self
resilience of Class of 2023 students at the Faculty of Islamic Studies, Universitas
Muhammadiyah Ponorogo. The study employs a quantitative approach with a
causal-associative research design. The population consists of 221 students, with a
sample of 56 students selected via purposive sampling. Data were collected using
Likert scales for family support and self-resilience distributed online via Google
Forms, then analyzed using IBM SPSS Statistics 27 through simple linear
regression and Pearson correlation tests. The results indicate that family support
has a positive and significant influence on student self-resilience, evidenced by a t
test significance value of 0.000 (< 0.05); thus, the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected
xx
and the alternative hypothesis (H1) was accepted. The Pearson correlation
coefficient of 0.484 falls into the moderate relationship category, while the
coefficient of determination (R-squared) of 0.235 indicates that family support
contributes 23.5% to student self-resilience, with the remaining 76.5% influenced
by factors outside the scope of this study. These findings confirm that the higher the
family support received by students, the higher their level of self-resilience.
