ANALYSIS OF THE INTERPRETATION OF THE HISTORICAL VALUE OF THE KRESEK MONUMENT TOURIST DESTINATION AS HERITAGE TOURISM IN MADIUN REGENCY

The Kresek Monument is one of the heritage tourism destinations in Madiun Regency which has important historical value related to the G30S PKI incident in 1948. As a historical tourist destination, the delivery of information through interpretive media plays an important role in helping visitors understand the meaning and historical value contained in it. However, the available interpretations still have some limitations so that historical information has not been optimally conveyed to visitors. This study aims to analyze the interpretation of the historical value of the Kresek Monument as a heritage tourism destination in Madiun Regency. The research uses a qualitative descriptive method with data collection techniques through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The research informants were selected using purposive sampling techniques. Data analysis is carried out through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study show that the interpretation at the Kresek Monument is still dominated by non-personal interpretation media in the form of reliefs, sculptures, museums, and information boards. The historical information presented is in accordance with historical facts, but the delivery is still limited so it is not able to explain the chronology, background, and meaning of events in its entirety. This condition causes visitors' understanding of the historical value of the Kresek Monument to be limited and some visitors seek additional information through other sources. In addition, the interpretation function as an educational medium has not run optimally because it has not been able to provide a more in-depth learning experience. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the interpretation of historical values in the Kresek Monument has not fully supported the function of heritage tourism as an educational medium. Therefore, it is necessary to develop more informative, systematic, and interactive interpretive media in order to improve the understanding and learning experience of visitors to the historical value of the Kresek Monument.
