Abstract
This research aims to analyze the application of the EDFAT (Entire, Detail, Frame, Angle, Time) technique in human interest photojournalism posted on the Instagram account @humaninterest_indonesia during the period of March-June 2024. The background of this research is the importance of applying the EDFAT technique to produce high-quality photojournalism that can attract and engage the audience's emotions. The research method used is photo analysis with a qualitative approach. Data were collected through observation and analysis of three randomly selected posts from the Instagram account @humaninterest_indonesia using random sampling techniques. Each photo was analyzed based on the application of EDFAT elements to enhance the visual and emotional appeal of each photo, thereby effectively conveying deep human interest stories. The results of the study show that some photos uploaded to the @humaninterest_indonesia account have applied the EDFAT elements (Entire, Detail, Frame, Angle, Time). The conclusion of this study is that two out of three photos encompass all five aspects of EDFAT (Entire, Detail, Frame, Angle, Time), specifically the first and third photos, whereas the second photo does not include the Frame aspect. This research contributes to the understanding of the importance of applying the EDFAT technique in photojournalism and provides recommendations for photographers to improve the quality of their work through the use of these elements.
