Abstract

Key word: English Comic, Writing, Recount Text The purpose of this studyingto know the effectiveness of English Comic in teaching writing “recount text” at the second grade of SMPN 1 SimanPonorogo. Research method used was quasi experimental design with non-Equivalent control group design. The population of this research was the second grade of SMPN 1 SimanPonorogo the years 2016/2017 with sample 44 students, they were class E 22 students and class F 22 students. The instruments used pretest, posttest, and questionnaire. From the data know of that: 1) there was a difference after doing treatment using media English comic. It was evidenced by result of t-test for pretest and posttest between experiment class and control class established in pretest, using result of independent sample T-test by both of the same variance assumption to hypothesis Ho : toward Ha : that given value = 0,722314398 and t-table with free of degree = 22+22-2= 42 with standard error α = 5%, t-table = 2,02. Because (0,722314398) < t-table (2,02), so null hypothesis (Ho) was received. That whilealternative hypothesis (Ha) was rejected thus it can be concluded that in pretest was not difference, therefore it can doing treatment. In posttest, using result of independent sample T-test by both of the same variance assumption to hypothesis Ho : toward Ha : that given value = 8,28707896 and t-table with free of degree = 22+22-2= 42 with standard error α = 5%, t-table = 2,02. Because (8,28707896) > t-table (2,02), so null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected, while alternative hypothesis (Ha) was received.It can be concluded that there were differences between post-test in experiment class and post-test in control after doing treatment. 2) From the questionnaire, there were difference between pretest and posttest. It can be concluded that in data questionnaire pretest obtained 72,15% and in data questionnaire posttest obtained 87,25%.
