Abstract
DITA PEBRIYANTI: The Effect of Information Literacy on Mathematics Problem Solving Ability of Students of SMA Negeri 3 Ponorogo. Thesis. Ponorogo: Mathematics Education Study Program, Muhammadiyah University of Ponorogo, 2024.
This research aims to: (1) describe the level of students' information literacy, (2) describe the level of students' mathematical problem-solving skills, and (3) determine whether there is an influence of information literacy on students' mathematical problem-solving skills in grade XI of SMA Negeri 3 Ponorogo.
This research used a quantitative method with a population of all XI grade students of SMA Negeri 3 Ponorogo consisting of ten classes. The research sample was 30 students of class XI-B selected by cluster random sampling technique. Data was collected using a questionnaire and a test. The instruments used were an information literacy questionnaire and a mathematical problem-solving essay test. Data analysis was carried out in two stages, namely descriptive analysis to describe the level of information literacy and students' mathematical problem solving ability, and inferential analysis using simple linear regression test to determine the effect of information literacy on students' mathematical problem solving ability.
The results of this research showed that students' information literacy level is categorized as good. The highest achievement was in the aspect of information search strategy with a percentage of 85.2%, while the lowest achievement was in the synthesis aspect with a percentage of 72.7%. Meanwhile, students' mathematical problem-solving skills were categorized as low. This is evident from the students' achievement in the four indicators, namely understanding the problem at 78.1% (medium category), developing a problem-solving plan at 49.4% (low category), executing the problem-solving plan at 46.3% (low category), and looking back at 28.6% (low category). Simple linear regression analysis showed that information literacy has a positive and significant influence on students' mathematical problem-solving skills, with a contribution of 33.5%. The remaining 66.5% is explained by other variables. Furthermore, the strength of the relationship between information literacy and students' mathematical problem-solving skills is moderate, as indicated by a correlation coefficient of 0.579.
